David Cross and Grace Cross will be exhibiting in this coming weekend’s annual Immanuel Lutheran College, Buderim Qld Arts Festival. From May 16th to 19th, come and enjoy one of the biggest art shows on the Sunshine Coast. Grace exhibits her Forest Floor mixed media textile artwork, which builds on layers of hand printed fabrics, paper, stitching and beads capped off with embedded skeletal leaves. Her 3D Sculpture, ‘Earmarked’ will also be featured. This piece is a collection of recycled German books with paper and stitching intertwined between the pages to create a mystical/spiritual soothing ambiance. Written on the board is “.. these pages are earmarked..” leaving it to the viewer to ponder the individual importance of each page folded and ‘earmarked’ for consideration.
David has chosen to exhibit one of his current works, “Aurora”, which is an original oil painting of a magnificent Moreton Bay Fig tree in Shorncliffe. Inspired by the light dappling through the tree leaves at dusk, David set out to interpret the magic of the figs on the cliffs. Two other works are on show also .His delightful, “Vintage Still Life”, which is a collection of vintage fabrics, vessels and iron lace railings from Naracoopa Bed & Breakfast. “Lagoon Palm” captures a moment in light at the Einbunpin Lagoon, Sandgate.
